With the sudden shift to telehealth due to coronavirus, we explained the telehealth rules and billing requirements for Medicare (effective 3/1/2020), California health insurers (effective 3/30/2020), and California workers' compensation (thru DOS 4/1/4/2020). 

In addition to California workers’ compensation-specific telehealth rules, this webinar will also cover the following updates to telehealth rules for both Medicare and California State:

  • April 3, 2020: Medicare changes the reimbursement for many telehealth services
  • April 3, 2020: Medicare requires a new modifier for telehealth services
  • March 30, 2020: Medicare adds 85 medical services to the allowed list of telehealth services, including physical medicine services
  • March 30, 2020: Medicare adopts a short list of telephone services
  • March 30, 2020: California Insurance Commissioner issues an order to health insurers to provide access to telehealth services for all consumers
  • March 30, 2020: California Insurance Commissioner issues an order to health insurers to reimburse providers the same rates for telehealth services as for office visits
