Alabama

The mission of the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy is to actively promote and protect the health of the citizens of Alabama through effective regulation of the profession of physical therapy.

APTA Alabama is a chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association, representing over 1,000 members who are physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students of physical therapy. The object of the Association is to represent and promote the profession of physical therapy and to meet the needs and interests of its members in order to address the physical therapy needs of members of society and to develop and advance the art and science of physical therapy, including practice, education and research. The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), a nationwide professional organization representing over 100,000 members.

The Alabama Orthopaedic Society (AOS) is a medical education association located in Montgomery, Alabama, comprised of orthopaedic surgeons who are licensed to practice medicine throughout Alabama and/or the United States. The purpose of AOS is the advancement of orthopaedic surgery in all its phases. As of May, 2017, there are approximately 400 orthopaedic surgeons in Alabama, some 280 of which are members of AOS. AOS is represented at the national level by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

The Medical Association of the State of Alabama is the professional association for some 7,000 physicians of all specialties throughout Alabama. The association exists to serve, lead, and unite physicians in promoting the highest quality of health care for the people of Alabama through advocacy, information, and education.

The mission of the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association is to serve its members through outstanding educational and fellowship opportunities and to provide value-added services, at the annual meeting and throughout the year.
